If you can't imagine taking a vacation that doesn't involve hitting the links, Saba may not be your top choice.
Due to the small amount of flat land (or land period) that exists on the island of Saba, constructing a golf course has always been seen as impractical. Couple that with the low volume of tourism on the island, and you'll see why a golf course does not exist in Saba.
Still, golf isn't entirely out of the question if you are willing to spend a little time and effort in order to pursue your favorite hobby. Just two hours away by ferry, or 15 minutes away on board an island hopping flight is the country of St. Maarten, and in St. Maarten is the Mullet Bay Golf Course. The 18-hole course is conveniently located right near the Princess Julianna International Airport, but golfers should be warned: the course is only open to the public on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and there is no golf pro or driving range.
Golfers, don't turn away from the idea of a vacation in Saba just because you may not have easy access to a tee-off time. There are plenty of other activities to keep you occupied, and you may even consider the break from golf a chance to try something new, like snorkeling or hiking.
