Guesthouses and rental villas are perfect accommodations for groups of travelers

Saba Sanctuary

Despite the ever-spreading hand of tourism that has taken over many parts of the Caribbean, tiny Saba remains a quiet and secluded natural paradise.

Many vacationers visit this tranquil, mountainous island to get away from busy crowds and the general hustle and bustle of everyday life. Compared to many other Caribbean islands, Saba has very few large luxury accommodations, but vacationers seeking charming lodgings will not be disappointed. Visitors to Saba will find that there are several beautiful guesthouses and villas nestled throughout the island that are perfect for a relaxing tropical getaway.

There are two main rental properties in Saba: the Gate House and the Cottage Club. The Gate House is located in a small village called Hell's Gate, from which the guesthouse derives its name. It is a combination of boutique hotel, cottage, and luxury villa all on one property. The unique atmosphere of the Gate House is ideal for families traveling with children or vacationers traveling in large groups. The cottages and villas have their own private bathrooms, and the kitchens are fully equipped, so guests of the Gate House should have everything they need in this peaceful little vacation hideaway.

The Gate House's rates are usually cheaper in the off tourist season, as are most accommodations in the Caribbean. From April to December guests can expect to pay about $140(USD) daily, or a weekly rate of $910(USD) for a cottage rental. If you're visiting the island during the winter months, the price of renting a cottage is $155(USD) per day, and $1,005(USD) per week. Renting a four-bedroom villa may be a little cheaper, especially if the cost is split between couples or members of a large group. Daily rates of a villa are between $295(USD) to $410(USD) during the low season, and $325(USD) to $445(USD) during the high season, depending on how many people you're traveling with. Weekly rates also depend on the number of guests you're staying with and range from $1,825(USD) to $2,625(USD) in the summer months, and $2,110(USD) to $2,890(USD) during the winter.

The Cottage Club is a cluster of cottages that are ideal for vacationers traveling in larger groups. The cottages provide guests with fully equipped kitchens as well as private bathrooms, which give travelers the conveniences and autonomy of being at home. Room rates for the Cottage Club also vary according to the tourist season, and vacationers should expect to pay about $105(USD) for daily rates and $625(USD) weekly during the summer time. During the winter months, rates are a little higher and guests will pay about $118(USD) daily and $750(USD) per week.

While vacationing on Saba, many travelers take advantage of the privacy and autonomy of rental properties. Depending on your vacationing needs, a villa or cottage could be just the right place for you and your travel companions.
